Kate O'Mara

Last Updated - 12/9/09

Born: August 10, 1939 in Leicester, England
Hammer film(s): The Vampire Lovers (1970); The Horror of Frankenstein (1970)
Other notable roles: Various recurring television guest star appearances.

Very sought after due to her exotic cat like features, Kate O'Mara could have been one of the biggest names in Hammer during the 1970's, but not wanting to be typecast turned down a six film, three year contract and continued a career in theater and television.  She went on to co-star in two Hammer films and even auditioned for a few others such as Dr Jekyll & Sister Hyde and Twins of Evil, but did not receive the roles.  The fact that she was interested in doing additional Hammer films confuses me as to why she turned down a six film contract, if typecasting is a concern you usually don't go looking for more of the same work! Whatever the reason it's a little sad, her notable film career basically begins and ends with her two Hammer roles, would have been nice to she her in more films, especially Hammer.

Hotness Rating: 9/10
Kate O'Mara is one of the more exotic looking actresses of the Hammer franchise, which physically makes her stand out.

Acting Rating: 7/10
At this time I don't have a lot to base and full opinon on, her role in The Vampire Lovers was quite small, but she gave a good performance.

Average Hammer Film Rating: 8/10
The Vampire Lovers is one of Hammers better horror films (at least based on what I have seen so far), also it's a triple threat with three quite attractive women.

Overall Rating
8.0
